Tenants! We’re making renting easier, faster and fairer

Before we first launched Zero Deposit™, the world of renting was full of ‘no’s’. Expensive deposits could price you out of properties you could realistically afford to rent month to month.

They could also eat into your savings. And, at the end of it all, getting that deposit back at the end of a tenancy could seem a slow, unfair battle. Only for the deposit loop to start again in your next place.

That’s far too many ‘no’s’. We wanted to change all that.

Since then, we’ve been on a mission to make renting easier, faster and fairer, starting with our Zero Deposit Guarantee. We’ve already turned a lot of those ‘no’s’ into ‘yeses’ – over 75,900* of them to be precise. That’s the number of renters like you who we’ve helped to move home quickly and securely without a deposit, keeping their savings intact in the process.

A few new changes

But we know there’s more we can do to make an even bigger world of yes. That’s why since April 6th 2021 we introduced a few changes to our services. Here are a few things to look out for...

Our fee structure has changed to make moving into your new home easier. Now, you’ll pay the equivalent of one week’s rent plus a £49 set up fee at the point you move in. And we’ve reduced the annual fee to just £17.50 each year. Much more affordable, just as protective.
We’ve cleared up the way we talk. Our industry can be full of fluff and jargon. To make it easier for you to understand your Guarantee, we’ve rewritten our guarantee wording.
We’re speeding up the claims process. No one wants their claim to drag on. So from June, if your landlord makes a claim at the end of your tenancy we’ll start looking into it right away without having to wait for evidence from you or them. You can provide that later if we need it and, because we use The Dispute Service as an independent adjudicator for disputed claims, you can trust you’ll get a fair outcome.
Improve your financial health with us. Did you know your rent payments don’t automatically count towards your credit rating? We’re changing that. Keep a lookout for new products and partnerships to make your rent work for you.
